Coaches

ROLE OF A COACH OR ASSISTANT COACH

Each coaching team (head and assistant coaches) works together to take on the various coaching duties.  The head coach is primarily responsible for most duties but may choose to lean on assistant coaches for support with some of the duties.  The primary duties of the coaching team include (but are not limited to):

  • Creating a positive and fun playing environment for players and families

  • Communicating with parents

  • Reporting scores, pitch counts (for tournaments) and any injuries to division convenor

  • Preparing batting order and field placements for each game, as per fair-play rules for the division.

  • Running team practices and pre-game warm-ups

  • Providing effective and positive coaching to players

  • Treating umpires, coaches and players with respect, as per code of conduct rules (Insert Link) 

  • Caring for team equipment

Reporting any infractions to the PBA Code of Conduct to the league, including aggressive or bullying behaviour towards umpires, coaches, players, etc.

ROLE OF A CONVENOR

The role of the convenor is to serve as the primary contact and support for all coaches in their division and communicate successes and needs to the league.  Duties will include:

  • Distributing emails to coaches from the director
     
  • Helping with the distribution of equipment and uniforms for their division
     
  • Communicating game cancellations due to rain.

Convenors are very organized and have strong communication skills.  Knowledge of baseball is an asset but not required. Commitment is approximately 5 hours per week from May to the beginning of August.
